Wally ignites the Mediterranean with a season of high-intensity regattas

The Mediterranean season of Wally has begun with intense competition, officially opening a calendar that promises to be one of the most fiercely contested in recent years. The debut took place during the Tre Golfi Sailing Week, an event that marked the transition from the Caribbean season to that of the Mediterranean, the historical heart of summer regattas.

Wally: the Mediterranean season

The event represented a true season opener for the Wally Performance Trophy, a new recognition awarded step by step both in the wallyrocket class and among the Maxis, culminating at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, where the best overall result of the year will be crowned.

In the Gulf of Naples and along the Sorrento Coast, the overlap between the ORC World Championship and the European IMA Maxi Championship brought together a fleet of the highest level, providing a first concrete verification of the new hierarchies at sea. The Wally boats immediately took on a central role, both in the Maxi classes and with the growing presence of the wallyrocket.

Among the most anticipated protagonists was the wallyrocket51, which continues to gain competitiveness and cohesion among the crews. Vessels like RocketNikka, Django, and Kilara II created a tight and constant competition, with a series of very close results in the races held. The most significant data is the increasing balance among the boats, highlighting how the project is evolving towards a real performance parity, regardless of the experience of individual teams.

In the final balance of the stage, RocketNikka finished the European Championship just shy of the podium, while Django confirmed its solidity in a very compact ranking. For RocketNikka, there was also recognition as the best Wally of the event, a testament to its consistent performance.

On the Maxi front, the wallycento V set its own pace in Division 1 of the European championship, demonstrating great control in the longer and more technical races. Behind it, the sister ship Galateia confirmed the very high level of the class, competing for line honors in an offshore race of over 150 miles decided by minimal margins after hours of sailing. Other Wally units present, such as the Wally 94 Sensei and Astra I, also contributed to making the competition extremely tight in their respective divisions, while the wallyrocket71 Django 7X once again highlighted its potential in compensated races.

The transition to Porto Cervo

With the transition to Porto Cervo, the circuit changed scenery but not intensity. The conditions of northern Sardinia offered a different, more technical, and often more selective testing ground, confirming the depth of the Wally fleet. The opening was entrusted to the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, where the Wally 94 Vantanera raced in an elegant yet highly competitive context.

Shortly after, the wallyrocket51 returned to the forefront at the Range Rover Sardinia Cup, a regatta that re-entered the IRC scene after a long absence. The challenging conditions, with strong winds from the northeast and a long offshore test, severely selected the fleet, but Django and RocketNikka managed to successfully complete the race, finishing respectively in the top positions.

The calendar then continued with the Cyclades Cup, a more intimate but no less competitive event set among the waters of the Cyclades and the island of Antiparos. Here, the Wally fleet presented itself in force with more units, confirming its presence even in the most exclusive contexts of the Mediterranean, where the sporting component coexists with a strong social element.

Among the symbolic races of the season, the Loro Piana Giraglia remains central, continuing to represent one of the most prestigious goals of the calendar. In this classic offshore race, the rivalry between the Maxi Wally and the competitive wallyrocket fleet renews year after year, with increasingly close confrontations and ever-evolving racing strategies.

The grand finale

As tradition dictates, the climax of the summer season will arrive from September 26 to October 4 with Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, one of the most representative events of international sailing and a historical reference point in the Wally universe.

In the extraordinary setting of the Côte d’Azur, Les Voiles will provide the ideal stage for the conclusion of the Wally 2026 season. After six intense days of competition, which will include match races dedicated to the wallyrocket51, Wally Maxi, and wallynano, the first Wally Performance Trophy will be awarded to the vessel that achieves the best overall performance throughout the season.

Overall, Wally confirms its unique position in the international sailing scene: not only as a builder of high-performance vessels but as a reference point for a community of owners who share a competitive, technical approach while being stylistically recognizable.
