Cap Innovation 2026: when innovating means giving new reasons to choose

Product, service, and sustainability are the three categories chosen by the Paris Nautic Show for Cap Innovation 2026. Three areas that, beyond the competition, illustrate how the value of innovation is changing in a market where the purchasing decision is becoming longer and more selective.

Cap Innovation 2026

New or renewed models alone are no longer enough to support a purchasing decision. Especially when the market becomes more selective and details increasingly enter into the reasons for choice.

In France, between September 2025 and August 2026, sales of new boats decreased by 5.2%. This decline is accompanied by a change in buyer behavior: according to the Fédération des Industries Nautiques, consumers are paying more attention to spending and are taking longer to mature their purchasing decisions. The used market is declining less, while maintenance and refit show a greater ability to hold steady.

Cap Innovation 2026: market projection, not just simple categories

It is in this context that the three categories identified by the Paris Nautic Show for Cap Innovation 2026 gain significance: innovative product, innovative service, and eco-responsible innovation.

Three categories that broaden the very concept of innovation. The product is called to provide concrete answers to new needs, through unprecedented technologies but also significant improvements to existing solutions. The service, on the other hand, shifts the focus beyond the boat, towards new ways to access, use, and manage navigation. Finally, sustainability now permeates materials, production processes, consumption, propulsion, and the reduction of the impact of nautical activities.

Cap Innovation 2026

This is not an isolated signal. A few weeks ago, the Cannes Yachting Festival dedicated its Innovation Route to 47 projects selected from 120 applications. The two competitions are not connected organizationally and adopt different formulas, but they indicate a common direction: at the shows, innovation is becoming less of a collection of novelties and more of a tool to interpret the transformation of the sector.

Cap Innovation 2026 also takes a further step compared to the previous edition: the competition is open to those who do not exhibit at the Paris Nautic Show. Builders, equipment and engine manufacturers, service companies, start-ups, associations, and project holders can apply for free until October 30.

The finalists will be announced on November 16, and the three winners on November 26, during the show scheduled from November 25 to 29 at Paris-Le Bourget.

In a market where choosing takes more time, the question seems to shift: not just what is new, but what problem that novelty truly solves and what value it can generate over time.
