The Modeling Department is a key element of our workflow.
The Yacht Design Modeling Division: Bridging Digital Design and Physical Production
The Modeling Division represents the critical bridge between digital design (CAD) and the physical production of luxury yachts and pleasure boats. It is an cutting-edge operation specializing in the creation of large-scale models and the subsequent production of molds made of fiberglass and other composite materials.
The main objective is to manage the entire model production process, ensuring maximum fidelity to the original design and the precision required for the final molding phase.

Core Mission and Capabilities
- Large-Scale Model Production: Creation of exact replicas, often at a 1:1 scale, of hulls, decks, superstructures, and interior components of the yachts.
- Mold Creation (Tooling): Production of the negative molds, typically made of fiberglass or epoxy materials, which will be used by shipyards to laminate the final parts (hull, deck, etc.).
- Integrated Process Management: The department takes charge of the project from the initial phase right up to the final product ready for molding.
The Technical Workflow (From CAD to Product)
The operational process is highly technological and involves multiple phases:
- Receiving the Mathematics: The process begins with the acquisition of the 3D digital files (the “mathematics” or the digital CAD project) supplied by the client, whether a shipyard or a design studio.
- CNC Milling: The mathematics are processed and sent to large 5-axis Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling machines. These machines “sculpt” the master model (often made of polyurethane foams or specific resins) with extremely high precision.
- Finishing and Assembly: The rough, milled model is hand-finished (fairing, sanding, polishing) to eliminate any imperfection, guaranteeing a perfect surface finish (Class A). The final assembly joins the various segments into a single, large-scale model, ready for the next phase.
- Mold Creation: The finished model serves as the positive. The negative fiberglass mold is laminated (or constructed) directly onto it. It is from this mold that the definitive composite components of the yacht will be produced.

Crucial Role: Precision and Transformation
The Modeling Division is crucial for two main reasons:
- Transformation: It converts the abstract digital design into a precise physical model that can be touched and measured.
- Quality (One-Off and Series Production): The precision of the model determines the final quality of the yacht. Whether it is a series production or a one-off unique piece, the Modeling Division ensures the tolerance and surface finish required for luxury pleasure boats.
