Outremer 48, the catamaran to go far
Outremer, “The beginning of a dream: building catamarans for the great journey” this is how we can summarize the DNA of the shipyard that has always inspired dreams because it represents the freedom to sail miles and travel in total safety.

It is June ’84 when Gèrard Danson, then a young architect, along with Daniel Cailloux, embark on the construction of their first 40-foot catamaran intended for offshore cruising. Even before finishing the first, the construction of a second hull begins, thus giving birth to the symbol of an iconic shipyard “Outremer Catamaran“.
Presented for the first time at theINTERNATIONAL MULTIHULL SHOW in La Grande Motte, this new model promises to replicate the great successes of the shipyard, which boasts the incredible record of 10 million miles sailed by the Outremer fleet.

A boat designed to set sail
Outremer 48 is designed for long voyages, far away and especially with a reduced crew.
“The issue was not to launch a new
model. The issue was to stay true to what
makes an Outremer. A boat that is really
used.“Rodolphe Cadoret – Marketing Director
Performance is not the goal but a means to ensure maximum safety at sea, reduce crossing times, and have more weather windows thanks to the ability to travel fast in total comfort. One of the greatest advantages is being able to make long passages even with a reduced crew thanks to a protected cockpit, ergonomic maneuvers, and exceptional visibility that allows anticipating potential problems and managing them before they become troubles.

Outremer 48 is also an evolution in the way of living on the boat, larger windows, organization of spaces, large lockers, not a space to show but a space to live the sea. Also regarding the onboard instrumentation, the shipyard has adopted reliable, understandable, and above all, repairable solutions. The goal is to reduce technological dependence by favoring reliable and repairable solutions.
