Galeon 800 FLY, the sea trial
With its 25.71 meters in overall length, the Galeon 800 FLY stands at the top of the Polish shipyard’s range. It is the perfect synthesis of the construction boldness of Galeon and the design expertise of Tony Castro Yacht Design, capable of bringing space and modularity solutions previously unthinkable on an 80-foot production yacht. We had the pleasure of testing this vessel during the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026, where it made its European debut.

Aesthetics and Shapes: sculpture on water
The profile of the Galeon 800 FLY impresses with the harmony of its lines: the sporty and sleek silhouette skillfully disguises an unprecedentedly large flybridge, a true penthouse deck with an unprecedented extension for an 80-footer that seems to integrate naturally into the body of the vessel, rather than sitting on top of it as an added volume.
The large side windows serve not only an aesthetic or lighting function for the lower decks but act as structural elements that visually “open” the metal and fiberglass, allowing the surrounding landscape to “penetrate” the yacht. The high freeboard, essential for ensuring generous headroom in the cabins and a sense of total protection in the external walkways, maintains a sleek and clean profile. The result is a perfect balance between the imposing nature of a megayacht and the sleek elegance of a sport cruiser.

The exteriors of the Galeon 800 FLY
The Flybridge has been designed specifically to combine relaxation and the pleasure of spending time with others. A lounge area has been created in front of the helm, from which to enjoy a panoramic view with the sensation of “flying” above the water. At the bow, a living area is set up with a double table and ample seating for sunbathing with company, while at the stern, a generous cockpit, with a U-shaped sofa and large table, connects directly to the beach club, creating the ideal environment for lunches and evenings by the sea, encouraging moments of relaxation and conviviality.

The wide and step-free walkways allow for safe and comfortable movement from stern to bow, easily reaching the various external areas of the Galeon 800 FLY. From the cockpit, one accesses the internal salon, appreciating the richness of the finishes: natural light floods in through the panoramic windows, highlighting a sophisticated environment rich in natural wood, polished stone, and leather used for the seating. The kitchen is not relegated to a service area but becomes a high-quality design element.

The triumph of light and the luxury of materials
Descending the access ladder to the lower deck of the Galeon 800 FLY, one immediately perceives a distinct change in atmosphere: the environment has nothing to do with the dark night decks typical of traditional hulls.
The designer Tony Castro has designed the four cabins (a Master in the center of the boat, a VIP at the bow, and two with twin beds for guests, each with a dedicated bathroom and numerous wardrobes), where natural light is not just an architectural element but the true protagonist of the onboard experience. The internal lighting also reflects the extreme refinement and elegance of the Galeon 800 FLY: it develops along hidden cuts in the ceilings, shaped grooves, and LED perimeter profiles recessed under the suspended beds, giving the sensation that the furnishings float in space.

Galeon 800 FLY: navigation impressions
Upon starting the two engines, no vibrations are felt during navigation, both at cruising speed (20-22kn) and at maximum speed (about 28-30kn), on the main deck we can talk comfortably without having to raise our voices. This is a sign of the quality of the work and materials used for the soundproofing of the engine room. The controls of the Galeon 800 FLY instill an initial respect due to the volumes at play, but it takes only a few minutes to appreciate the quality of the naval project; the wide side glazing allows for monitoring the surrounding traffic; this is also an indicator of high safety.

By pushing the throttles of the 2 MTU 12V 1,800 HP each forward, the hull lifts out of the water with a surprisingly flat attitude. The planing occurs around 15-16 knots, while the ideal fast cruising attitude is found at 22-23 knots. Even at this stage, the response of the rudders is prompt and decisive, without any hesitation. Pushing to the maximum, we reached 28.5 knots, an excellent value for a structure of over 60 tons. The variable V hull(*) slices through the wave of our wake with extreme softness. There are no creaks from the furniture or flexing of the deckhouse, testifying to the torsional rigidity conferred by the fiberglass-carbon hybridization.

Despite its size, the integrated joystick-bow/stern thruster system allows for moving the yacht sideways or rotating it on its axis with millimeter precision, making docking maneuvers manageable even for a small crew.
In the Galeon 800 FLY, there is not a single square centimeter on board that has not been designed to offer a functional alternative or a unique aesthetic value. It is the ideal yacht for the experienced owner who rejects the banality of traditional layouts and seeks a navigation experience where architecture bends to the desire to live the sea without filters.

(*)The secret to the navigation comfort of the Galeon 800 FLY lies in the geometry of its “variable V” hull. The aft section offers a high-efficiency hydrodynamic lifting platform that reduces drag, allowing the 60 tons of the megayacht to plane at just 15 knots. As one moves towards the bow, the deadrise angle (the V of the hull) becomes increasingly acute and sharp: this smooth transition allows the bow to “open” the water decisively, dissipating wave energy and enabling smooth navigation.
